Twin Rivers Paper Has Acquired Potsdam Specialty Paper in New York

May 5, 2026 - Twin Rivers Paper today announced the acquisition of Potsdam Specialty Paper Inc. ("PSPI"), a leader in the development and manufacturing of specialty latex, acrylic, and other saturated base papers.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

PSPI's paper mill in Potsdam, New York, adds 26,000 tons of annual production capacity to Twin Rivers' asset base.

By integrating PSPI's specialized product offerings and technical expertise, Twin Rivers enhances its ability to deliver high-performance, value-driven solutions to customers. The acquisition expands Twin Rivers' footprint in specialty papers and further positions Twin Rivers as a comprehensive leading supplier of innovative fiber-based materials.

With specialized on-machine capabilities including latex saturating, nonwoven/synthetic fiber handling and wet creping, extensive color capabilities, and an advanced off-machine coater, the Potsdam mill produces highly engineered papers for a wide range of market sectors. Applications include tape base, abrasive backer, durable label, medical (sterilization), wallpaper base, wide format digital substrates, durable book cover and high-end retail packaging.

Twin Rivers Paper Company, headquartered in Madawaska, Maine, is an integrated specialty paper manufacturer producing half a million tons of paper per year for the publishing, label, technical and packaging sectors. The company operates a pulp mill in New Brunswick and diverse paper assets in northern Maine and upstate New York that produce uncoated and coated specialty papers in a broad range of basis weights and finishes.
