Feb. 5, 2026 - Sappi Europe today announced a price increase of EUR 50 per ton on its Woodfree Coated (WFC) sheets portfolio, effective 16 March 2026.
In a press release Sappi said, "Over the past months, market prices for Woodfree Coated sheets have fallen heavily, driven by weak demand and intense competitive pressure. This decline has pushed selling prices to levels that no longer reflect the underlying cost realities of the industry.
"Ensuring reliable and sustainable supply to our customers requires that we maintain the long-term financial viability of our operations," Sappi continued. "Given the ongoing disconnect between market prices and structural cost levels, this increase represents the first step toward reestablishing a sustainable price level. If cost pressures persist, further price adjustments may be necessary to safeguard long?term supply stability and maintain service quality.
"As a strategic supplier to printers, publishers, merchants, and converters, Sappi Europe remains committed to ensuring consistent product availability and exceptional service. The announced increase will support continued investment in production assets, product development, and supply reliability across the Woodfree Coated portfolio," the company concluded.
Sappi noted that its customers will be contacted individually by Sappi Europe's sales organization to discuss implementation details.
Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, Sappi Europe is the leading European producer of coated graphic paper as well as packaging and speciality papers.
