Dec. 3, 2025 - UPM said it will discontinue label materials production in Nancy, France. However, the site will continue as a slitting and distribution terminal offering best-in class service and lead time to UPM Adhesive Materials' customers.

The change will impact 79 employees.

UPM first announced its intention to discontinue label materials production at the Nancy plant earlier this year in September. At that time, the company said its decision was "driven by the overcapacity resulting from exceptional market developments during the past years."

The consultation process with employee representatives was completed on November 12.

In a press release, UPM said, "These changes aim at supporting UPM Adhesive Materials' growth by improving the overall profitability of its operations and maximizing synergies. By centralizing production to more cost competitive factories, UPM will also improve its cost efficiency and the quality of its products."

UPM Adhesive Materials, a business of UPM, provides high-performance, innovative self-adhesive products, including label materials, graphics solutions, and specialty tapes, as well as reliable services close to customers.
