When operational, Saica Group's nearly 350,000-square-foot facility in Anderson, Ohio, will produce more than 1,200,000 MSF of corrugated packaging.
Oct. 27, 2025 - Saica Group on Oct. 21 officially kicked-off construction of its new corrugated manufacturing facility in Anderson, Indiana, with a groundbreaking ceremony at the site.
Among the distinguished attendees were former State Senator Tim Lanane, representing the Mayor of Anderson; David J. Adams, Indiana Secretary of Commerce; and Rob Sparks, Executive Director of the Madison County Economic Development Corporation, among other regional representatives.
Representatives from Saica, construction partners Miller Valentine Construction, CSX, and FM Global, as well as other key stakeholders and community leaders, were also present at the ceremony.
"Saica is committed to stability and long-term growth in the U.S.," said Susana Alejandro, President and CEO of Saica Group. "This investment is proof that we are moving forward with our plans in the U.S. as we are convinced that we can provide products that will differentiate us in a crowded market. It reflects our deep commitment to delivering exceptional service, as we believe our knowledge and experience in the production of lighter-weight containerboard and corrugated packaging will bring high-performance packaging to the U.S. market while becoming more efficient in the use of materials."
The new plant in Anderson will be the second Saica Pack plant in the U.S.
In April of 2022, Saica Group started production of corrugated packaging at its new plant in Hamilton, Ohio — a 360,000 square-foot facility that includes manufacturing, converting and production areas, along with a warehouse and office space. The plant has a production capacity over 1,500 MSF/year of corrugated board.
In Anderson, the nearly 350,000-square-foot facility will produce more than 1,200,000 MSF of corrugated packaging and will rely heavily on the connected railroad line for shipping of paper rolls.
The Anderson site will also serve as a backup plant for Saica Pack in Hamilton, to reinforce supply chain security. The site will include manufacturing, converting and production areas, along with a warehouse and office space.
The Anderson plant is scheduled to open in Q4 2026.
Based in Spain, Saica Group has an annual production capacity of about 4.4 million short tons of recycled paper for corrugated board. With more than 12,000 employees, Saica Group has four business lines: Saica Paper (recycled paper for corrugated board), Saica Natur (waste management and environmental services), Saica Pack (production of corrugated board packaging), and Saica Flex (flexible packaging).
