June 2, 2025 - Valmet recently marked a major milestone — the 25th anniversary of the acquisition of Beloit Corporation’s paper machine service business in North America. What began as a strategic purchase in 2000 has since evolved into a cornerstone of Valmet's North American operations and OEM service expertise.
Valmet’s acquisition of Beloit Corporation’s paper machine service and aftermarket assets officially closed on May 12, 2000. At the time, Valmet was the fiber and paper technology business area of Metso Corporation. The acquisition significantly expanded service capabilities and strengthened the company's position in the pulp and paper industry.
Today, the Valmet Service Center in Beloit, Wisconsin, employs about 140 people and remains an important hub in Valmet's global service network — delivering high-quality parts and services that enhance customer performance. The skilled team provides expert support in customer service, supply chain management and North American customs compliance. Workshop services include component assembly and precision repairs, and the facility also manufactures key performance parts such as headbox flow sheets, coater blades and spare part assemblies.
On May 8, 2025, employees gathered at the Beloit facility to celebrate the people, technologies and partnerships that have defined the past 25 years and continue to shape Valmet's future. The celebration included lunch and a commemorative video showcasing Beloit's heritage and the evolution of the site.
David Nelson, VP, Sales & Marketing and Interim Head of North America, reflected on the 2000 acquisition, the transition to Valmet, the great camaraderie and teamwork that helped build the Service business to what it is today, and the teammates who paved the way, "This milestone is a tribute to the people and shared purpose that have driven 25 years of transformation. I'm proud to have walked this journey with such a dedicated and talented team in Beloit."
A special highlight of the day was recognizing colleagues for their milestone service achievements. Eighteen employees celebrated their 25th anniversary with Valmet, and when combining their time with Beloit Corporation and Valmet, two colleagues held the longest total tenure at 46 years, followed closely by another with 45 years.
Each were presented with a service award and shared memories from their career.
A common theme throughout the event was that colleagues often become like family. Many reflected on how the people in the company have made all the difference, brought together by shared goals and purpose.
One of the team members captured the spirit of the celebration best when they said, "It’s not the final destination; it's the journey that gets you there. What a road we've traveled, and what beautiful friendships we’ve formed along the way."
Valmet has a global customer base across various process industries and is a leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries.
