DS Smith Invests EUR 6 Million in New Converting Machine Eerbeek Packaging Plant

DS Smith Eerbeek

April 3, 2024 - DS Smith has invested EUR 6 million in a new 4-color converting machine installed at its Eerbeek Packaging Plant in Netherlands.

The new machine, which is currently in the start-up phase, will produce the well-known FEFCO 0201 bespoke corrugated cardboard boxes and alternative grades for customers.

According to the company, the new machine is equipped with an advanced automatic inline error detection system. Additionally, computer-controlled technology will check the quality of the printing and gluing and enhance the accuracy of the machinery while applying additional preciseness to the die-cutting lines in the packaging and folding process.

"We are thrilled to take this new step in our ongoing commitment to excellence and sustainability," said Philip Bautil, Managing Director of DS Smith Benelux. "This investment underscores our dedication to delivering high-quality packaging solutions that meet the needs of our customers while contributing to a more sustainable future.

"With this new investment we are continuing to meet our customers supply chain challenges and respond to their requirements for growth. We are still seeing an increased demand for products that require sustainable plastic replacement and fibre-based solutions," Bautil added.

Headquartered in London, DS Smith is a leading provider of sustainable fiber-based packaging worldwide, which is supported by recycling and papermaking operations.
