March 28, 2024 - The Voith Group mourns the loss of its former member of the Corporate Board of Management, Hans Müller, who passed away on March 20, 2024 at the age of 82.

Hans Müller accompanied and shaped the paper industry for over 40 years. From 1995 to 2005, he was a member of the Voith Corporate Board of Management and was responsible for the Group Division Voith Paper and, from 2000, also for the former Group Division Voith Fabrics.

Under Mr. Müller's leadership, the companies Sulzer Escher Wyss and Voith were successfully merged in the field of paper technology. After Voith took over the paper machine clothing business from Scapa in 1999, he also became CEO of the newly founded Group Division Voith Fabrics. Further acquisitions such as Jagenberg and Finckh followed.

"Paper is my life." — Hans Müller.

"Paper cast its spell on me in my early childhood," Hans Müller once recounted. "I was born right next door to a paper mill, my father worked there and sometimes, at the weekend, he would secretly take me with him into the mill. Ever since then paper has been my passion, and I
have never escaped from its spell."

Mr. Müller's strategic goal was always to be able to offer customers the complete papermaking process from one source. Important milestones were achieved under his chairmanship. The needs and requirements of customers and employees were always at the center of his actions.

The Voith Group is a global technology company. With its broad portfolio of systems, products, services and digital applications, Voith sets standards in the markets of energy, paper, raw materials and transport & automotive. Founded in 1867, the company today has around 22,000 employees, sales of EUR 5.5 billion and locations in over 60 countries worldwide and is thus one of the larger family-owned companies in Europe.
