Metsä Group Appoints Pekka Kittilä as VP, Mill Manager at Kemi; Tomi Seppä as Project Director

Jan. 8, 2024 - Metsä Group announced that Pekka Kittilä has been appointed VP, Mill Manager of Metsä Fibre's new Kemi bioproduct mill in Finland, effective 1 February 2024. Kittilä previously served as Technical Director of the bioproduct mill project.

Additionally, Tomi Seppä has been appointed Project Director at Metsä Board as of 1 February 2024, after which he will move to the position of VP, Kemi Board Mill as of 1 June 2024. Seppä is currently working as VP, Mill Manager of the Kemi bioproduct mill.

Metsä Group's new Kemi bioproduct mill and the paperboard mill expansion project started in February 2021 and took about two and a half years to complete. The EUR 2.02 billion mill will produce 1.5 million tonnes of softwood and hardwood pulp annually, as well as numerous other bioproducts, including 2 terawatt hours of renewable electricity.

The new mill came into operation as planned on 20 September 2023 and is expected to reach full production capacity in Autumn of 2024.
