Total U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Shipments Decreased Two Percent in November 2021

Dec. 17, 2021 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has released its November 2021 Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly report. According to the report, total packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in November decreased two percent compared to November 2020. They were essentially flat (-0.1 percent) when compared to the same 11 months of 2020.

  • The operating rate was 85.1 percent, up 1.5 points from November 2020 and up 2.5 points year-to-date.
  • Mill inventories at the end of November increased 5,000 short tons from the previous month and were up 10,000 short tons compared to November 2020.
