Total U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Shipments Increased Three Percent in June 2021

July 19, 2021 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released its June 2021 Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly report. According to the report, total packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in June increased three percent compared to June 2020. They were up two percent when compared to the same six months of 2020.

  • The operating rate was 90.2 percent, up 1.6 points from June 2020 and up 5.0 points year-to-date.
  • Mill inventories at the end of June decreased 17,000 short tons from the previous month and were down 9,000 short tons compared to June 2020.
