Total U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Shipments Increased Four Percent in April 2021

May 24, 2021 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has released its April 2021 Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly report.

According to the report, total packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in April increased four percent compared to April 2020. They were up one percent when compared to the same four months of 2020.

  • The operating rate was 95.1 percent, up 9.6 points from April 2020 and up 5.2 points year-to-date.
  • Mill inventories at the end of April increased 9,000 short tons from the previous month and were up 20,000 short tons compared to April 2020.
