April 13, 2021 - Liberty Diversified International (LDI) today announced the acquisition of Southern Container, a Houston-based packaging company. Southern Container will become part of Liberty Packaging, a business unit in the LDI family of companies.

As both companies are privately held, the purchase price was not disclosed.

According to Matt Homan, LDI's President and CEO, "We are excited to add Southern Container to our Packaging team and rebrand the business as Liberty Packaging Houston. We will continue manufacturing from the current site in northwest Houston, and we have offered their 50 employees jobs with Liberty Packaging."

Southern Container owner Brook Wiggins, Sr., who will retain a consultive role with the company, said, "When we decided to sell the company, Liberty Packaging was a natural choice. They share similar values, including extraordinary care for customers and employees."

Homan said that Southern Container, with its wide array of corrugated box manufacturing equipment and capabilities, will be an excellent regional complement to Liberty Packaging's Dallas/Fort Worth operations.

"We're continuing to expand our reach throughout the Southwestern United States, and this acquisition adds capacity and talent for us to continue to grow and be a leader in the Texas market," Homan said.

Liberty Packaging is a nationally recognized designer and manufacturer of corrugated packaging containers and point-of-purchase displays.
