Domtar Names Troy Wilson as Mill Manager for Its Kingsport, Tennessee Paper Mill

Troy Wilson - Domtar Troy Wilson

Jan. 18, 2021 - Domtar on Jan. 14 announced that Troy Wilson has been named Kingsport Mill manager, effective immediately. He succeeds Marty Barfield, who passed away on Dec. 31 after a long illness.

In his new role, Wilson will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Kingsport Mill. A key focus will be its operational readiness for the mill's entry into the containerboard market in 2022.

In August 2020, Domtar announced plans to enter the linerboard market with the conversion of the Kingsport mill's uncoated freesheet paper machine to containerboard. Once in full operation, the mill will produce and market approximately 600,000 tons per year of high-quality recycled linerboard and corrugated medium. The mill's grade conversion is expected to be complete in 2022.

Wilson was previously the paper mill manager at Domtar's Johnsonburg Mill, responsible for managing safety, quality, production, cost and employee development for the mill's two fine paper machines.

Wilson brings nearly 35 years of paper mill experience to the Kingsport Mill, having held operational and managerial positions in five mills with extensive experience producing containerboard, fine paper and fluff/market pulp. His experience leading two greenfield containerboard start-ups and major machine conversions, make him an ideal candidate to lead the mill's transition.

Wilson is an excellent leader, known for his ability to develop people and drive successful teams. He was recognized as the Paper Industry Management Association's 2015 superintendent of the year.

Domtar is a leading provider of a wide variety of fiber-based products including communication, specialty and packaging papers, market pulp and absorbent hygiene products. To learn more, visit: www.domtar.com.
