ABB Supplies Electrical Package and Drives Automation to Grupo Gondi's New Recycled Containerboard Mill in Mexico

ABB drive systems ABB' scope of supply includes switchgear, transformers, motors, drives, and automation for the paper machine drive system.

Sept. 3, 2020 - ABB has supplied and commissioned a full electrical solution for Grupo Gondi at its new 400,000 tonnes per year recycled containerboard mill located just north of Monterrey, Mexico. The project includes switchgear, transformers, motors, drives, and automation for the paper machine drive system with ABB's Ability™ System 800xA distributed control system.

ABB will also supply a specialty instrumentation package to enable Gondi to optimize operations while maintaining low energy costs.

Commissioning of the project is close to completion, with startup of the new paper machine, PM 7, scheduled this month, September 2020.
