Valmet to Supply New Linerboard Machine to WestRock's Florence, South Carolina Mill

March 20, 2018 - Valmet announced that it will supply a linerboard production line with a wide automation package for WestRock Company at its mill in Florence, South Carolina (USA). The delivery will include a state-of-the-art kraft linerboard machine to replace three older, narrow-width paper machines.

The value of the order was not disclosed.

In November of 2017, WestRock announced that it would invest $410 million in the Florence kraft linerboard mill that included installing a 330 kraft linerboard machine and related infrastructure. In addition, the company plans to invest approximately $60 million over the next five years to support the new machine and other mill projects.

WestRock anticipates the new machine will produce 644,000 metric tons (710,000 short tons) of kraft linerboard annually.

Start-up of the new machine is scheduled for the first half of 2020.
