Ralph Stagner, Mill Manager of IPs Savannah Mill, to Retire; David Castro to Succeed Him
April 6, 2015 - International Paper announced that Ralph Stagner, mill manager at the company's containerboard mill in Savannah, Georgia, will retire at the end of the year. The Savannah Mill is part of IP's Industrial Packaging business segment.
David Castro, who has served as Mill Manager at IP's Springfield, Oregon containerboard mill since 2011, will succeed Stagner in Savannah.
Stagner joined IP following its acquisition of Temple-Inland in 2003 and "has been a tremendous asset" to the company, IP noted. He will stay on through the end of 2015 to help the transition process of mill leadership.
"I want to personally thank Ralph for his leadership at our Savannah Containerboard Mill and positioning the mill for the future," said John Grover, IPís, Vice President, Manufacturing, Containerboard-East, Industrial Packaging. "Ralph has had a long, very successful career in the packaging and paper industry, and we wish him and his wife, Shari, best wishes in their future plans."
Castro has been with IP for over 33 years, holding various roles of increasing responsibility in manufacturing at IP's Mansfield and Red River, Louisiana containerboard mills and the Springfield Mill.
"David has done an outstanding job leading the Springfield team and positioning the mill for continued success," said Roman Gallo, IP's, Vice President, Manufacturing, Containerboard-West. "His leadership and manufacturing experience at a number of mills will be an asset to the Savannah team. We are confident he will provide excellent leadership for the Savannah mill to reach another level of success and sustainable performance."
