Pöyry Awarded Engineering Assignment for Eldorado Brasil Pulp Line 2 Expansion Project

Eldorado Brasil's planned new eucalyptus pulp production line (Line 2) is expected to start up in 2017 and increase the mill's production capacity to 4 million tpy.

Oct. 9, 0214 - Eldorado Brasil has awarded Pöyry with the basic engineering services assignment for the Eldorado Line 2 expansion project at Eldorado's pulp mill in Tres Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Pöyry said that currently it is responsible for the conceptual and environmental studies and detailed engineering for the site infrastructure of Line 2.

The new assignment includes engineering services, enquiry specifications of main process equipment, auxiliary systems, water and effluent treatment and investment cost estimate.

From 2009 to 2012, Pöyry was responsible for the conceptual study, basic engineering, Balance of Plant (BOP) detailed engineering and supporting the construction management for Line 1 — a 1.5 million ton per year eucalyptus (hardwood) pulp line that started up in early-December 2012.

According to Pöyry, the new production line will increase the capacity of the Eldorado mill to 4.0 million air-dried tons per year of eucalyptus pulp.

Raw material will be eucalyptus wood from plantations established by Eldorado in the area surrounding the mill site.
