Smurfit Kappa Named Company of the Year in Ireland

Dec. 19, 2013 - Smurfit Kappa was named "Company of the Year" at the Business and Finance Awards 2013 which took place in Dublin on December 12. The award recognizes the company which best demonstrates outstanding business leadership, sustainable growth, innovative strategy, strong financial returns and employee development.

For over 30 years, the Business & Finance Awards have been recognizing excellence in Irish business and is the longest running and most coveted business awards program in Ireland.

Past receipients of this prestigious award include Google, Ryanair and Microsoft.

The award reflects the views of business leaders and entrepreneurs throughout Irelandís leading companies. The CEOís of Irelandís top 500 companies are approached for their nominations for the Company of the Year Award and a jury of their peers selects the winner.

Smurfit Kappa faced strong competition for the award from the other shortlisted companies which included Paddy Power, Glanbia, Aer Lingus, Eircom, Sky, Greencore and Intel to name a few.

The Business Person of the Year was John Moloney, the retiring CEO of Glanbia, who has recently joined the Smurfit Kappa Group plc Board as a non executive director.
