Georgia-Pacific to Close Corrugated Box Plant in Chicago's South Side

Jan. 29, 2013 - Georgia Pacific will close a corrugated box plant at 440 East 138th Street in Chicago's South Side in March, according to a news report by CBS Chicago.

The box-making facility has about 100 employees.

A spokeswoman for GP, Karen Cole, told CBS Chicago that employees were notified on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Cole said the plant's closure is the result of the company being unable to make it competitive.

Georgia-Pacific bought the plant in 1990, she said.
