Fraser Papers Slates Pulp Downtime at Edmundston
Feb. 17, 2009 - Fraser Papers said that it will take two weeks of market-related downtime at its pulp mill operations in Edmundston, New Brunswick, effective February 23, 2009.
The Edmundston pulp mill produces sulphite and groundwood pulp for Fraser's integrated paper mill in Madawaska, Maine, where the company continues to rotate downtime across its six specialty paper machines in order to match customer orders with production.
Fraser said the downtime will not affect its ability to meet customer orders.
The Edmundston biomass cogeneration facility will operate through this period providing steam to the paper mill and electrical power to the New Brunswick grid, Fraser added.
