Dec. 4, 2008 - Duro Bag Manufacturing Company announced that John F. Gillen has been named president and chief operating officer of Duro Standard Products Co.—the business that produces and markets the majority of the company's paper bags.

Most recently, Gillen served as President for Stora Enso North America.

Gillen started his business career with Motorola Corp. as a salesman for communications electronics in the Chicago area. Before entering business, Gillen from 1981 to 1985 was a professional football player, including linebacker for the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals and New England Patriots. He received a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign in 1981.
