Newsprint Balancing Act Again Relying On Direction of Exports
Capacity shuts have bolstered the North American newsprint market and helped offset a steep decline in demand. However, increased competition is making it more challenging to use exports as a strategy for North American mills to sustain shipments and operating rates. If exports falter, additional capacity reductions may be required.
