Domtar Orders Voith BlueLine Recycled Stock Preparation System for Kingsport Mill Conversion Project

Domtar Kingsport mill Domtar plans to convert the paper machine at its Kingsport mill from uncoated free-sheet to containerboard.

Aug. 13, 2020 – Domtar has chosen Voith to provide a complete recycled stock preparation system for the recently announced conversion of the Kingsport Mill in Kingsport, Tennessee. The system includes Voith’s BlueLine products including water, sludge and reject handling systems which will maximize both efficiency and quality.

“We are confident in Voith’s equipment and expertise as an industry-leading supplier of recycled fiber systems and we are certain their equipment will meet the needs of this new project,” said Bill Edwards, Vice President Paper Manufacturing, Domtar.

The installation of the new system is expected to be complete in 2022.

Domtar on Aug. 7 announced plans to enter the linerboard market with the conversion of the Kingsport mill's uncoated free-sheet paper machine to containerboard. Once in full operation, the mill will produce and market approximately 600,000 tons annually of high-quality recycled linerboard and medium.
