U.S. Containerboard Production Essentially Flat in October 2019

WestRock containerboard The U.S. containerboard operating rate was 94.7 percent, essentially flat (-0.5 pts.) from October 2018 and down 5.5 points year-to-date.

Nov. 15, 2019 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released the October 2019 U.S. Containerboard Monthly report. According to the report, total containerboard production in October remained essentially flat (+0.0%) compared to October 2018. It was down four percent when compared to the same 10 months of 2018.

October 2019 production of containerboard for export increased four percent compared to the same month last year; it was down 16 percent year-to-date.

The containerboard operating rate was 94.7 percent, essentially flat (-0.5 pts.) from October 2018 and down 5.5 points year-to-date. The operating rate in October increased 1.7 percent from September 2019.

Mill inventories of containerboard at the end of October decreased 26,000 short tons from the previous month and were up 30,000 short tons compared to October 2018.
