BillerudKorsnäs Inaugurates KM7 Board Machine at Gruvön Mill in Sweden

Oct. 4, 2019 - BillerudKorsnäs on Oct. 3, inaugurated its new, ultra-modern board machine, KM7, at the company's Gruvön mill in Sweden. The ceremony was attended by HRH Prince Daniel of Sweden and Minister of Enterprise Ibrahim Baylan, among other distinguished guests.

The investment made by BillerudKorsnäs in KM7 is the company's biggest investment to date and one of the largest industrial investments in Sweden in recent years. Production from the new machine is designed to meet the globally growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

KM7 is a Voith 'XcelLine' board machine, and is 350 metres in length and weighs 17,000 tonnes.

With a production capacity of 550,000 tonnes per year, KM7 produces liquid packaging board, white top kraftliner, cartonboard and cup stock, which BillerudKorsnäs customers use for milk cartons, fruit boxes, and “quality cardboard boxes”.

KM7 was commissioned on June 28, 2019 and start-up took just seven days from stock on wire to paper on reel.
