Ilim Group Awards Supply Contract to Voith for New Kraftliner Machine in Russia

Voith XcelLine paper machine With the capacity to produce 600,000 tons per year of kraftliner, Ilim's new custom designed paper machine from Voith will produce kraftliner with a basis weight ranging from 80.0 to 175.0 gsm.

June 10, 2019 - Ilim Group announced that Voith will supply an XcelLine paper machine for Ilim's new pulp and paperboard mill in Ust-Ilimsk, Russia.

According to Ilim, the new custom designed machine will produce kraftliner with a basis weight ranging from 80.0 to 175.0 gsm. With an annual output of 600,000 tons, the machine willl be the largest in the world in terms of capacity — its maximum capacity will be 2,150 tons per day. Paper web width on the winder will be 9,400 mm.

Ilim explained that the new pulp and paperboard mill in Ust-Ilimsk is the key project of Ilim's large-scale investment program aimed to increase production capacities in Siberia and continue business expansion in the growing Chinese market, where Ilim has been operating for over 23 years.

Start-up of the new kraftline machine is expected by the end of 2021.
