Södra to Hike Price for Its NBSK Pulp to $1,200/tonne in Europe

May 3, 2018 - Swedish market pulp producer Södra today announced a price increase of $30 per tonne for its NBSK (northern bleached softwood kraft) pulp in Europe, pushing the price from $1,170 as of April 1 to $1,200 per tonne effective May 1.

This is Södra's fifth increase in as many months. On January 1, Södra's price for its NBSK stood at $1,070 per tonne.

Södra said the latest price hike is the result “continuing, unprecedented strong demand for NBSK in Europe.”

Södra, with headquarters in Vaxjo, Sweden, produces market pulp, wood products and biofuels. The company operates three pulp mills in Sweden (Mörrum, Mönsterås and Värö.) with a total capacity of 1.6 million tonnes per year. Sodra produces both softwood and hardwood pulp — 90% softwood and 10% hardwood. To learn more, please visit:
