Total European Shipments of Graphic Papers in May 2017 Up 3.8% over May 2016
In Europe, total shipments of graphic papers in May 2017 were 2,794,000 tonnes, an increase of 102,000 tonnes, (3.8%) compared to May of 2016.
July 31, 2017 - EURO-GRAPH, the European Association of Graphic Paper Producers, published its May 2017 statistics of the European Graphic Papers Industry, which showed total shipments of graphic papers in May were 2,794,000 tonnes, a jump of 260,000 tonnes versus the prior month, and an increase of 102,000 tonnes, (3.8%) compared to May of 2016.
Graphic Paper grades include: Newsprint, SC-Magazine, Coated Mechanical Reels, Uncoated Mechanical Reels, Coated Woodfree and Uncoated Woodfree.
In May, total European shipments of Newsprint were 652,000 tonnes compared to 665,000 tonnes in May of 2016, a decrease of 1.9%.
Total shipments of SC-Magazine paper in May were 320,000 tonnes compared to 300,000 tonnes in May of 2016, an increase of 6.5%.
Total Shipments of Coated Mechanical Reels in May were 477,000 tonnes, up 5.7% versus a May 2016 figure of 451,000 tonnes.
Shipments of Uncoated Mechanical papers in May were 211,000 tonnes, up 4.9%, compared to 201,000 tonnes in May of 2016.
Total shipments of Coated Woodfree papers in May were 524,000 tonnes, a jump of 10.0% compared to 476,000 tonnes in May 2016.
Total shipment of Uncoated Woodfree papers in May were 610,000 tonnes, up 2.0% from 598,000 tonnes in May 2016.
