Metso to Deliver Quality Control System to Nicol-Pack Imperial Co. in Russia

Metso's delivery will include an IQ Scanner with basis weight, moisture and caliper sensors, as well as basis weight and moisture MD controls.

June 19, 2014 - Metso said that it will supply Nicol-Pack Imperial Co. Ltd. with a new quality control system for the company's Murom paper mill in the Vladimir region of Russia.

The new system is part of Nicol-Pack's modernization project of its board machine, BM 1, which produces core board and boxboard.

According to Metso, the advanced quality control system will allow the Murom mill to better control and boost the quality of BM 1's board grades.

Metso's scope of delivery will consist of Metso IQ quality control solutions, including a Metso IQ Scanner with basis weight, moisture and caliper sensors, as well as basis weight and moisture MD controls.

The delivery also includes IQ Dilution basis weight profiler actuators for a Nelba headbox and a basis weight CD control.

Nicol-Pack Imperial Co. Ltd is part of Nicol-Pack Corporation, which produces a wide range of board grades. In 2015, Nicol-Pack plans to produce 216,000 tons of board: 135,000 tons of fluting and liner in Uchaly, 30,000 tons of core board and boxboard in Nizhny Novgorod, 30,000 tons of core board and boxboard in Murom, 14,000 tons of board cores and board corners in Voskresensk in the Moscow region, and 7,000 tons of board cores in Novouljanovs.
