Menges Roller's Veronica Singh Earns Women in Manufacturing STEP Award

Jan. 8, 2014 - Menges Roller Company announced that its Engineering Estimator and Purchasing Manager, Veronica Singh, has been nominated by The Manufacturing Institute for a “Women in Manufacturing STEP Award.”

The STEP Awards recognize women at all levels of manufacturing, from the factory floor to the C-suite. The STEP Awards call for women in Science, Technology, Engineering or Production roles who have made significant achievements in manufacturing through their positive impact on a company's product development, process improvement, project, sale, or other similar activities.

Mrs. Singh, who has been with Menges Roller since 2001, is respected by customers and co-workers alike for her technical knowledge — a knowledge she’s developed over years of hands-on work, reading, and asking questions — and has become an authority in her field.

"Veronica is truly unbelievable. She is rock solid, and it's not often that one sees a woman in machining, let alone manufacturing," said Matt Menges, President of Menges Roller. "You don’t question Veronica, there’s no need to, she has either researched the topic or experienced it. She will always make the correct decision.”

Jennifer McNelly, President, The Manufacturing Institute, explained, "The STEP Awards are part of the larger STEP Ahead initiative launched to examine and promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and best practices for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent.”

On February 6, The Manufacturing Institute will recognize STEP Award recipients at a reception in Washington, D.C.
