Nippon Paper Industries to Hike Prices for Linerboard and Corrugated Medium

Dec. 9, 2013 - Nippon Paper Industries said that its containerboard sales division will increase prices for its linerboard and corrugated medium in the domestic market, effective January 21, 2014.

The price hike will be about 15%, the company said

Nippon Paper explained that the price hike is due to steadily increasing costs for raw materials such as wastepaper and fuel.

“Although the company has made sustained efforts to reduce costs, it has proven difficult to absorb all the cost increases through the company's own efforts, and it decided that there was no alternative but to pass the cost on to the product prices,” Nippon Paper said in a written statement.
