Kemira to Consolidate Production of Paper Chemicals, Closing Vassa Facility by Year-end
April 24, 2013 - Kemira said that it is planning to consolidate its paper chemicals production into larger production units and to close its paper chemicals production facility in Vaasa, western Finland by the end of this year.
The planned closure of the Vassa facility would impact the 60 people who work at the plant.
In a statement, Kemira said, "The objective is to optimize the capacity utilization rate and efficiency of its process chemicals production network."
The annual cost savings for the planned site closure are expected to reach EUR 5 million and the related non-recurring restructuring charges are expected to be approximately EUR 15 million, Kemira said.
