Sofidel Completes Deal with SCA for Former GP Tissue Operations in Europe
Part of the deal includes well-known consumer brands in the UK and Republic of Ireland markets such as Thirst Pockets, Kitten Soft, Inversoft and Nouvelle.
April 4, 2013 - Italian tissue paper producer Sofidel and Sweden's SCA have finalized a deal related to former Georgia-Pacific (GP) businesses in Europe.

In July of 2012, SCA acquired GP's European tissue operations and the European Commission made the deal subject to SCA divesting certain European operations.
In January of this year, SCA struck a deal with Sofidel to satisfy the EC's conditions.
Sofidel's acquisition, which became effective April 1, includes:
- Well-known consumer brands (toilet paper and household towel) in UK and Republic of Ireland markets — Thirst Pockets, Kitten Soft, Inversoft and Nouvelle.
- The licensing for marketing other important brands in the same line of business in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg — Lotus and Lotus Moltonel.
- Production capacity at the Horwich plant (a converting plant), between Liverpool and Manchester, North West England (UK).
