Institute Heritage Foundation Seeking IPST, IPC, and Georgia Tech Paper Science and Engineering Alumni

Aug. 16, 2012 - The Institute Heritage Foundation, the alumni association for graduates of the Institute of Paper Chemistry (IPC), the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST), and the Georgia Tech Paper Science and Engineering graduates, is seeking alumni and friends who would like to reconnect and support the organization and students.

The Institute Heritage Foundation issued the following letter intended for alumni and friends:

We the officers of the Institute Heritage Foundation believe there are many among IPST's alumni and friends that would like to reconnect and support the organization and students. To provide a means to accomplish this we are looking to reconstitute our organization for the benefit of alums, friends, students, and IPST.

The alumni association for graduates of the Institute of Paper Chemistry (IPC), the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST), and the Georgia Tech Paper Science and Engineering graduates is called the Institute Heritage Foundation. The association's objective is to serve alumni by engaging former students in active and effective partnerships with the IPST community and the industry. Governed by alumni, for alumni, the Foundation promotes mutually beneficial interaction between the alumni and the current student body and offers the opportunity to build Institute friendships that will last a lifetime. See the IPST website (www.ipst.gatech.edu/alumni/heritage/index.html) for further information.

Accordingly, IPST and the Foundation tentatively plan to co-host an information gathering at 4-5:15 pm on October 11 at the Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, immediately preceding the Paper Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. [Paper Industry International Hall of Fame: www.paperhall.org]

Our first step is to locate as many alumni as we can. If each recipient of this message would kindly reply to alumni@ipst.gatech.edu to let us know whether you are or are not an alumnus, it would be greatly appreciated.

Second, we will form a program committee to pull together the event. If you would be willing to assist on the program committee — which will meet by phone and e-mail — please so indicate.

Third, if you will be in the Appleton area and think you might attend the alumni information event the afternoon of October 11, please let us know by return e-mail.

Fourth — and finally! — if you would kindly forward this [correspondence] to five (or so) people you know to be alumni and whose addresses you have, that would help reconnect with as many alumni as possible.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in revitalizing this important stimulus for the advancement of our industry through networking and support for our students.
