Ilim Group Production of Pulp and Paper Flat in First Half 2012

Ilim Group produced 732,000 tons of pulp and paper products in the first half of 2012.

Aug. 8, 2012 - Ilim Group said that for the first six months of 2012, its mills in Siberia (the Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk Mills) produced 732,000 tons of pulp and paper products. As compared to the first six months of 2011, production output remains flat. This includes 626,000 tons of market pulp, which is slightly better than the similar period performance in 2011.

Board production amounted to 106,000 tons, down by 7.7% compared to the same period in 2011.

The decrease in board production is the result of market demand for reduced basis weight board, which in turn leads to an output decrease in terms of tons produced, Ilim noted.

However, in terms of square meters produced, board output remains flat, Ilim said.

Pulp cooking volumes have not changed significantly and amounted to 795,000 tons.

Over the first half of 2012 wood harvested by Ilim Group totaled 3.4 million cubic meters, up by 12% as compared to the first six months of 2011.
