Poyry Awarded Engineering Service Contract for Klabin's New Pulp Mill in Brazil
The new 1.5 million tpy pulp mill will utilize eucalyptus and pine from Klabin's own plantations.
April 4, 2012 - Poyry's Industry Business Group has been awarded a services contract by Klabin S.A. for environmental study, basic engineering and detailed engineering for site infrastructure for a new pulp mill to be constructed in the state of Parana, southern Brazil.
The value of the contract will not be disclosed, Poyry said.
The new pulp mill will have a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, with start up planned for the third quarter of 2014.
When operational, the pulp mill will utilize eucalyptus and pine from Klabin's own plantations for its raw material.
The final investment decision is expected later this year, Poyry said.
The concept of the mill is based on the use of the best available technologies and the best environmental practices, Poyry added.
