Voith to Deliver New Tissue Machine to SCA's Kostheim Plant in Germany

Jan. 31, 2012 - SCA has placed an order with Voith Paper for a new tissue machine, which will be installed at SCA's Kostheim production facility in Germany.

According to Voith, the order includes the new TM 5 with its 18-feet Yankee cylinder (diameter: 5,486 mm), along with an UltraHood high performance drying hood and the entire electrical and automation systems. In addition, stock preparation will include a IntensaPulper for high energy efficiency.

All services, the entire engineering package, as well as the entire clothing, complete the scope of supply, Voith said.

TM 5 is of double width (wire width: 5,500 mm) and will produce some 60,000 metric tons per year of high-quality tissue paper at a basis weight of 20.5 g/m.

Start-up is scheduled for spring 2013.

In April of 2011, SCA announced that it would invest about SEK 1.1bn (approx. EUR 120 million) in a new tissue machine in Kostheim, Germany in order to meet increased demand, primarily for AFH (Away From Home) tissue products.
