Norske Skog to Restart Newsprint PM 2 at Skogn Mill in Norway

Oct. 18, 2011 - Norske Skog said that PM2, a newsprint machine at its Skogn mill in Norway, will start normal production again on Monday, October 24.

The company said sales orders have somewhat improved, resulting in its decision to restart PM2.

All 56 employees that were laid off last month will resume to their jobs, Norske Skog said.

The paper machine downtime reduced Norske Skog's annual newsprint production by about 20,000 tons. PM 2 has the capacity to produce 186,000 tons per year of newsprint

Norske Skog Skogn (Skogn, Norway) is one of the largest newsprint mills in Europe. The mill has three newsprint machines — PM 1, PM 2, PM3 — with a combined production capacity of 600,000 tons per year.
