Nordic Paper to Trim Staff at Two Mills in Sweden
Oct 7 2011 - Nordic Paper has given notice to 20 employees at its Saffle paper mill and 30 employees at the Amotfors mill. Both mills are located in Varmland, West Sweden.
The staff reductions are part of an efficiency improvement program that Nordic Paper is launching in order to improve profitability and secure the competitiveness of the mills.
"This is another step in the process of making Nordic Paper an even more profitable and strong company in the future,” said Jan Runo, CEO of Nordic Paper, in a press release.
The Saffle mill is an integrated pulp and paper mill with two paper machines and a total production capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year of greaseproof paper and 50,000 tpy of totally chlorine free pulp. The mill employs about 220 people.
The Amotfors mill employs 120 people and produces about 56,000 tpy of unbleached Kraft paper on two paper machines.
No personnel reductions have been announced so far at the Nordic Paper's other two mills — Backhammar in Sweden and Greaker in Norway.
