Fibria Receives Offers for Piracicaba Paper Mill in Sao Paulo
July 27, 2011 - Fibria said that it has received offers for its specialty paper mill in Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Fibria did not disclose the potential buyers nor the amount of the offers, however the company said that it will over the next 15 days "evaluate the convenience and opportunity of closing a possible sale of the Piracicaba Unit" and promptly disclose any developments about the deal.
The Piracicaba mill has the capacity to produce 160,000 tons per year of carbonless and uncoated woodfree papers. The mill is also ISO 14001-certified.
Fibria operates five mills with a combined annual production capacity of 5.25 million tons of pulp, along with 179,000 tons per year of thermal, carbonless and printing papers. The company also has a 50% stake in Veracel (pulp mill joint-venture with Stora Enso), in Bahia.
