Norske Skog Saugbrugs Mill Nears Full Production after February Fire
June 22, 2011 - Norske Skog said that its Saugbrugs mill in Halden, Norway has started up full production on one more paper machine (PM6) after an extensive fire occurred on February 2, 2011 in the thermo-mechanical pulp plant.
According to Norske Skog, all production facilities at the mill were stopped due to the fire.
The Saugbrugs mill operates three paper machines: PM4, PM5 and PM6.
PM 4 was the first machine to be re-started after the fire and PM6 started up on June 8.
SC magazine paper has already been delivered to customers from PM6, the company said.
PM5 is scheduled to start up on June 27.
"We are very pleased to see that the first deliveries of paper to pressrooms confirm that production is at the same quality level as before the fire," said Norske Skog's CEO Sven Ombudstvedt.
Norske Skog Saugbrugs has an annual production of 545,000 tpy of SC magazine paper and has 550 employees.
