Omya Wins Contract to Supply PCC to Ilim's Koryazhma Mill
April 19, 2011 - Omya said that it recently won a competitive bid for a 15-year supply agreement with Russian pulp and paper producer Ilim Group.
According to the terms of the deal, Omya will supply 60,000 tons per year of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) for Ilim's Koryazhma plant in the Archangelsk region of Russia.
Ilim is adding a new uncoated wood free paper machine at the Koryazhma mill, with start up for the new machine is expected in October of 2012, at which time the Omya plant will be ready to supply up to 60,000 tons per year of PCC.
PCC is an essential raw material for paper manufacturing and responsible for key properties such as bulk, opacity and whiteness.
