Caraustar's Sweetwater Paperboard Mill earns FSC Certification

April 8, 2011 - Caraustar Industries.said that it has achieved certification to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Standard for its Sweetwater Paperboard Mill in Austell, Georgia.

The certification supports the continuation of sustainable fiber sourcing as the mill produces a 100% recycled paperboard product, Caraustar said.

"Our Sweetwater mill has produced paperboard made entirely from recovered waste paper since its 1974 start-up. We pride ourselves on being an environmentally responsible manufacturer, and we are particularly gratified to be recognized with the FSC certification that distinguishes our products in the market. Our customers can be assured we are doing what is best for the environment and for their requirements," said Greg Bartlett, vice president, sales and marketing, Mill Group.

The Sweetwater Paperboard facility also received certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Chain of Custody Standard.

The Sweetwater mill produces a variety of grades and serves major markets: gypsum facing paper, folding cartons, tubes and cores, and other specialty products.
