Ilim Group's East Business Unit Reached Record Pulp Production in 2010

Jan. 31, 2011 - Russian pulp and paper producer Ilim Group said that the mills within its Ilim East business unit (Bratsk Pulp and Containerboard Mill and Ust-Ilimsk Pulp Mill) manufactured 1,468,000 tons of pulp and paper products — a 3% increase over 2009 and an all-time record.

The 2010 production figure represents 1,242,000 tons of market pulp, which is a 4% increase from 2009, and about 225,000 tons of containerboard production, which was roughly at the same level as the previous year, Ilim said.

"We can definitely say that 2010 year results were positive — recovering demand in the market place helped us to increase production," said Brian McDonald, deputy CEO of Ilim Group. "Ust-Ilimsk mill and Bratsk mill had even managed to reach record level of production," he added.

"We expect that such positive tendencies would continue in 2011 and we could continue to grow and increase our effectiveness," McDonald said.
