UPM to Boost Label Paper Capacity at Tervasaari Mill in Finland
Nov. 25, 2010 - UPM said that due to the growing demand for label papers it will increase production capacity at its Tervasaari mill in Valkeakoski, Finland.
The capacity hike will be accomplished by rebuilding paper machine number 8 (PM 8), which will result in an increase of nearly 30,000 tons per year.
The rebuild project will start in March 2011 and the main portion of the work will be finished in early 2012.
The new capacity is expected to come on stream during the second quarter of 2012.
"With the rebuild of the Tervasaari PM 8 we want to ensure our market leader position in label papers and support our customers' growth," said Juha Kaariainen, general manager of UPM Tervasaari.
UPM Tervasaari paper mill in Valkeakoski produces about 360,000 tpy of label, envelope and kraft papers. The mill employs about 400 people.
PM 8 was built in 1996 and the machine produces label base papers.
