Imerys to Hike Price for Kaolin and Calcium Carbonate
Nov. 5, 2010 - Imerys Pigments for Paper North America said that it will increase pricing for kaolin and calcium carbonate, effective January 1, 2011, subject to any provisions in individual customer contracts.
Imerys said the prices of kaolin produced in the USA and Brazil, including calcined kaolin products, will increase by 5 – 7%, and the prices of ground calcium carbonate (GCC) will increase by 5%.
The natural gas trigger price for the kaolin energy surcharge program will continue to be $5.00 per MMBtu for all non-contract customers, the company added.
Imerys cited cost increases in logistics, mining, chemicals, fuel and power as key factors in its decision to hike prices.
