Cellu Tissue Earns COC Certification from Three Standards Organizations
June 30, 2010 - Cellu Tissue Holdings, Inc. said that it has earned Chain of Custody (COC) Certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC).
The COC certification was the result of a comprehensive review of Cellu Tissue's sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution operations, the company said.
"Chain of Custody Certification from the three major standards bodies is a significant achievement in the paper industry, and demonstrates the emphasis Cellu Tissue places on responsible forest management, sustainable and renewable resource management, and socially conscious business practices," said Russ Taylor, CEO and president of Cellu Tissue Holdings.
Chain of Custody tracks the entire life cycle of raw materials used in the production of paper based products. COC certified manufacturers can track materials from seedling to mature tree, including harvesting methods, transportation to the mill, and the entire process of converting the raw materials into pulp and eventually finished paper products.
