RockTenn Chattanooga, TN Mill Earns FSC Stamp
June 10, 2010 - RockTenn said that its Specialty Paperboard Products mill in Chattanooga, Tennessee has achieved certification to Forest Stewardship Councilís (FSC) chain of custody (CoC) standards.
NSF International Strategic Registrations, Ltd. independently audited and validated the millís sustainable fiber sourcing practices against these standards.
FSC is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that has established standards for responsible forest management. ďChain of custodyĒ is an audit process that reviews the path taken by raw materials, beginning with a certified source and continuing through processing, manufacturing, distribution and print, until the material becomes a final product ready for sale to the end-use consumer.
Established in 1917, RockTennís Chattanooga mill became the Southís first recycled paperboard mill. Today, the mill is a leading North American producer of 100 percent recycled, uncoated specialty paperboard focusing on solid fiber partitions, tubes, cores, various chip grades and paperboard for furniture laminate used in the ready to assemble furniture industry.
