Sodra to Hike Price for Softwood Pulp Grades in Europe

May 7, 2010 - Market pulp producer Sodra today said that it will increase the price of its softwood pulp grades in Europe by USD 20 per ton.

The increase, which will bring the price to USD 980 per ton, will be effective June 1.

"Pulp market remains solid, with strong demand and low stocks," noted Ulf Edman, president of Sodra Cell International.

Sodra is the world's third largest supplier of market pulp. The company operates five pulp mills — three in Sweden and two in Norway — with a total capacity of 2.1 million tons per year, of which just over 100,000 tons is mechanical pulp (CTMP) and the rest bleached sulphate pulp.

The company's entire pulp production is sold on the open market.
