Quake Halts Operations at Norske Skog's Paper Mill in Chile
March 1, 2010 - Norwegian paper maker Norske Skog confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries among employees at the company's Bio Bio newsprint mill in Chile after a magnitude-8.8 earthquake rocked the region.
The mill employs 240 people and is located in Concepcion, which was hit by the earthquake on Saturday, February 27.
Norske Skog expects the Bio Bio mill operations "to be halted for some time" and that it is too early to provide detailed information on damage to the mill itself.
The Bio Bio mill has an annual capacity of 130,000 tonnes of mainly newsprint.
